 Choosing A Surveillance System

In the past, only the government and private investigators used surveillance equipment.  In today’s society millions of people are using nanny cams to check on their babysitters, surveillance cameras to keep an eye on their homes and businesses, and hidden cameras to catch a thief, or prove abuse or infidelity. These products are not found at your local shopping center.  Where do we find these products and what should you look for?

  • Look for products that are easy to install yourself.
  • Buy from someone who will walk you through everything if you should have any questions or problems.
  • WARNING! There are many cameras out there use 1.2 GHz transmitters and receivers.  1.2 GHz transmitters are not approved by the FCC for transmitting wireless video.  The FCC is aware of the situation and is conducting an ongoing investigation into the production and distribution of 1.2 GHz surveillance products.
  • Look for 2.4 GHz transmitters.  2.4 GHz transmitters are high-powered transmitters that can send video signals up to three times further than other transmitters and are FCC approved.
  • Wireless surveillance and hidden cameras must have a power supply.  Power is provided by a battery pack.  Most battery packs supply power for about 5 hours, then you must throw them away and buy a new one.  Buy a battery pack that lasts up to 8 hours and is rechargeable.
  • Beware of cheap lenses that produce low quality images.

Look for CCD (Charged Coupled Device) lenses, which are high in resolution and highly sensitive to light.  This allows them to record in outdoor and low-light conditions.

Hidden cameras use to be available to only the government and private investigators.  Not anymore!  These products are now available to the general public.  In today’s times more and more people are finding a need for this specialized equipment.  Nanny cams are a great way to assure that your child is being cared for properly.  It is hard to find a reliable babysitter and many times you are forced to leave your child with someone you have only been referred to.  This does not always guarantee your child is in good hands.  It is especially scary when your child is too young to tell you if someone is treating them badly.  Hidden cameras are also great to keep an eye on your home, and business, to catch a thief, and detect abuse, or infidelity. Solve Your Home Invasion With a Hidden Camera

One of  my dear friends recently had their home robbed.  It is hard to describe the feeling of returning home to find not only your personal property gone, but to find your home destroyed. Furniture was thrown around, walls destroyed, steel doors sawed open, just for starts.  My friend had a security alarm system, but hurried out that morning and failed to set it.  Having set it may or may not have stopped the robbery, but they could have had something that would have identified the intruders. A hidden camera!  The intruder would have been on camera and easily identified. No they did not have one this time, but beware to the one that thinks about returning! You will be on candid camera!  Don’t wait until after the act.  Be proactive. We never think it will happen to us. But it did!  I am not one that likes to say I tried to warn you, I tried to have you protected, so I am not going to say it.  They are smart people though and they are ready should it ever happen again.   Are You Ready?  Are You Prepared?  It’s a terrible feeling to be robbed.  Protect yourself today!
